SUMMARY:2021 Virtual Resource Family Conference
DESCRIPTION:May 1\, 2021\nWe’re excited to announce this year’s Resource Family Conference will be held virtually in conjunction with KVC Kansas! This is a wonderful\, free training opportunity for foster families to learn a range of new topics\, such as helping youth feel safe and connected\, promoting healthy brain development and resilience\, and partnering with other members of a child’s support team. \nAdditional details:\n\nTune in for Keynote Speaker Josh Shipp on May 1 at 10am (details below)\nUp to 11 training hours will available (see topics below). Training courses will be available throughout the month of May\n\nKeynote Speaker: Josh Shipp\nStatistically\, Josh Shipp should be dead\, in jail\, or homeless. But his success as a preeminent author\, speaker\, and global youth empowerment expert is living proof of the power of one caring adult. \nA former at-risk foster kid turned youth advocate\, Josh is renowned for the documentary TV series on A&E that followed his groundbreaking work with youth and families.He has written two national bestsellers to date\, “The Grown-Up’s Guide to Teenage Humans” – winner of the Nautilus Gold Award for Parenting & Family – and “The Teen’s Guide to World Domination.” \n\nBreakout Session Topics:\n\nDeescalating\nPartnering with bio families\nTBRI\nSelf-care\nSecondary trauma\nDrug recognition & safety – DONE\nInternet Safety\nADHD & PTSD\nHuman Trafficking\n\nRegistration is now closed.
