The Power of Teamwork in KVC Kentucky Careers

At KVC Kentucky, meaningful work doesn’t happen in isolation. Behind every success story is a team of people who show up, offer support and remind each other that no one has to carry the work — or life’s challenges alone. More than that, our focus on teamwork creates a safe space for employees, where they know they are supported.

KVC KY training For team member Michelle, her KVC team became especially meaningful during one of the hardest seasons of her life. For Hannah, seeing one of her clients overcome addiction and reunite with her children became a powerful reminder of why she chose a career in helping others.

Their stories offer two perspectives on what makes a career at KVC Kentucky so rewarding: the people beside you and the lives you help change.

Michelle’s Story: The Power of Supportive Coworkers

Michelle has been with KVC Kentucky for nearly four years, starting as a Clinical Specialist before quickly being promoted to the role of Associate Director. One of two Associate Directors for her region, Michelle is an integral part of KVC Kentucky leadership, making sure her team feels empowered and has what they need to pursue client success.

With a strong personal work ethic, Michelle has never struggled to get everything done and be a constant presence in the workplace. But when her mom, Karen, was diagnosed with ALS in November of 2024, Michelle found herself leaning on her team in new ways. “It took me a little while to tell everybody what was going on,” shares Michelle, “but then I did share with the team because I knew that it was going to affect me on different levels, and people would probably start to see that.”

When Michelle confided in her team what was going on, she was overwhelmed by the kindness and compassion that she received.

“To say I’ve felt supported would be an understatement,” said Michelle in her story. “They have shown up in the most unexpected, thoughtful and beautiful ways. They’ve wrapped me in comfort when I didn’t even know I needed it.”

KVC Kentucky employeesA Team That Shows Up When It Matters Most

One of the most beautiful examples of this care and compassion was when Karen’s last birthday occurred in November 2025. Michelle said their family could tell it was getting close to the end of her mom’s life, making that birthday a precious and emotional time. At their weekly team meeting, the entire team brought in card-making supplies and made personal, beautiful birthday cards for Karen. “They really went above and beyond not just to show me support, but to also show care and compassion for my mom,” reflects Michelle.

When her mom passed away in December of 2025, it was one of the hardest seasons of Michelle’s life. She describes her mom as her person, her best friend. Losing her left Michelle feeling so alone, making the support and care her coworkers wrapped around her even more impactful.

“There’s something incredibly powerful about knowing that the people you work with also happen to be people with such huge hearts,” says Michelle. “They’ve become more than coworkers; they’ve become family.”

Hannah’s Story: Inspired by Client Success

Hannah is a Family Care Coordinator at KVC Kentucky. In her role, Hannah fills the gaps between services, wrapping around clients, helping them connect to resources and keeping them on top of appointments and treatment. While she originally studied accounting, she eventually moved away from that and discovered a career with KVC Kentucky.

“I wanted a career where I could make a difference and make an impact,” shares Hannah. “My hope is to leave the world a little better than how I found it.”

One of Hannah’s first clients was a mother struggling with substance abuse that led to her two children entering foster care. This client was in dire straits, trying to fight substance addiction alone but never able to maintain her sobriety. When the client started the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Hannah became her point of contact for staying on top of her classes and everything she needed to accomplish to recover and reunify with her children.

One Consistent Supporter Can Make a Difference

Over six months of service, Hannah watched her client go from not having custody of her children and not being able to sleep in her own bed to completing IOP and parenting classes, being an active parent in her children’s lives, overcoming addiction and being safely reunified with her children.

In the six months of IOP, this client only had one relapse, but was quickly able to recover and get back on track. She attributed this success to Hannah and the rest of the team at KVC. “She felt like this time, someone was in her corner,” shares Hannah. “This time, she had the support that she needed.” Handing this client her completion certificate after IOP was one of the most rewarding experiences of Hannah’s career with KVC thus far, marking her first successful closure. This client’s story of resilience and success will forever inspire Hannah and remind her why this work matters: small acts of consistency and support can lead to major change.
