Child Welfare Case Assistance through Family Referral and Support
KVC Kentucky is proud to partner with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services and the Jefferson County Department of Community Based Services (DCBS) in serving children and families in Louisville. the state’s largest city.
KVC Kentucky’s Referral and Support Services is an innovative public-private partnership designed to provide support to DCBS in completing family assessments, connecting families with needed community services and resources, and strengthening the safety, permanency and well-being of at-risk children and families.
This unique team-based approach allows for families to receive support from both KVC Kentucky and DCBS in concluding their child welfare involvement and offering referral linkages or services including behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, recovery supports, medical services, pediatric care, and academic services. Additionally, KVC Kentucky is implementing evidence-based risk assessment and consultation tools in order to better understand the complex and unique risk and safety needs of the families served by Jefferson County DCBS.
So far, the team on this project has completed nearly 4,000 successful assessments, providing support and referrals to thousands of children and families since the program began in June 2019.
